The Map application displays the current
location of People/Items or Alarms on a floorplan.
This application presents a graphical view of the current location of where an Item is or
where an Alarm has occurred. There are many configurable options that determine what
and how items will be displayed. The Icons displayed on the map are user definable.
The floorplans used are standard DXF file format files (this format is the standard
Drawing eXchange Format
used by all leading CAD companies, it was created by AutoCAD). It is strongly
recommended that simplified DXF files be created for use with Map, as DXF files frequently
contain many layers. You typically only want to see walls/window and doors in
drawings used by map.
Below we will look at a typical display when Map is used to locate Items. In the
following example Map is being used to display the current location of Paper spools in a
paper mill.

Here you can see Icons of different colors representing the different spools found
in the paper mill. Double clicking on a spool displays additional information about
the product on that spool. The following shows the screen displayed when we double
clicked on spool 28 (in the center of the screen).

Map can also be used to display the location of alarms. The screen below shows a
typical floorplan of a healthcare facility.

Below we have zoomed in on the lower floor, and we can see where an alarm has occurred.
